Leaside Badminton Club
Please visit our new website at: https://leasidebadmintonclub.teamapp.com
We will be migrating to the new website/platform starting with the Fall Tournament and Christmas Party.
Members will receive an email asking them to register for the new website.
The move to the new website allows us to do the following in the future/now:
The website is located here: https://leasidebadmintonclub.teamapp.com/
Members do not need to register until they get an email from TeamApp
As a separate and unrelated note, we will be limiting the number of guests on Tuesdays from 4 to 2 due to the higher number of members that attend Tuesdays.
The first tournament of the season. Come on out and play with a randomly drawn partner for your first game. After the first match, we set new teams: one losing player is placed with one randomly drawn winning player. Your individual score builds as you accumulate points each game towards your individual point total. Every point counts so fight for each one! Highest point total wins!
Due to the Canada Post strike, the Li-Ning Rep is unable to get all the rackets for the demo night. The demo night has been delayed until further notice.
With a batch of new members, we are seeing busier than usual play nights. We will start using the pegboard more often to arrange games and to avoid any confusion about who's playing next.
Our first two feather nights will be Oct 30 and Nov 1. You will receive an email soon regarding the event. We will have as many feather nights as the club can afford based on budget.
We will soon be migrating to a new platform for LBC. Guests have already been using it to self-register for play nights
LBC would like to thank everyone that tried out for the club. We have now reached maximum capacity for members. Players that have registered and weren't able to try out can play at LBC as guests, but must contact email@example.com prior to attending. We are currently limiting the number of guests each night to four.
As execs, we tried our best to be objective but may not have communicated clearly what we were trying to achieve as a recreational club. Players were evaluated based on:
At no point in the evaluation did we take into account the win-loss records of any members, nor would it be fair because players would've interacted with members of different skill levels.
Players are always welcome to come back to try out next year and guests that are deemed a fit this year will be offered an opportunity to become members next year.
We recently asked the TDSB about the lighting in the gym and cleanliness of the floors. Below is the response we received. We are working with TDSB to find a mutually agreed upon solution. If you have any concerns, please feel free to contact one of the LBC Execs either via email or on a play night. Please do so respectfully. LBC Execs are volunteers, do not get paid and are using their personal time to support the club.
The gym will be swept before use. Unfortunately this was caused by our power problem that burnt them out and we may not be able to address the lights until over winter break. It is a big job that requires scaffolding set up for a couple of days which would result in shutting down the gym again. Please advise if you would like to cancel the use of the gym if the facilities are not feasible for your use.
Opening night will be this week on Tuesday, September 25.
Also, the votes are in and the additional funds from the shorter season will be going towards Feather Nights!
GUESTS: We will not be having guests visit during the month of September. Once October starts, please contact us (see Join Us) to come as a guest.
